Whiskey Tango (Neck Knife)

Whiskey Tango (Neck Knife)

*Please note:  The WHISKEY TANGO does not come with a wooden gift box like the full size Whiskey Knives, but does come packaged in a very nice thick cotton canvas logo drawstring bag.

Don't Tango with the Whiskey Tango.  Although this little neck knife doesn't have a whiskey barrel handle, it's still a proud member of the Whiskey Knife family.  In the shape of a crow's head, the Whiskey Tango is more than a knife.  It functions as a flint striker, ferro rod scraper (with integrated notch for this) and bottle opener.  It comes in a hand-crafted heirloom quality Voyager leather sheath with adjustable lumberjack paracord lanyard.  The Tango is perfect for every day tasks such as box cutting and package opening, but also excels in the wilderness for food prep, field dressing wild game and general camp chores.  It also makes for a quick access self defense tool if the need arises.

Our knives begin as tough A36 Steel, which are forged and ground. The blade is then sent for a state of the art heat treatment, which, over a period of twelve hours, produces a deep layer of high carbon tool steel that forms an incredible cutting edge (58-59 RC) while retaining extreme core toughness (35 RC).

The Tango has a Hollow Ground Single Bevel edge.  The grinds/bevels are asymmetrical, designed specifically to produce a thinner modified single bevel cutting tool.  The edge is micro-beveled and ceramic honed.  See sharpening suggestions below.

Leather Voyager Sheath:  Exquisite hand-crafted leather sheath treated with a proprietary mix of leather dye, neatsfoot oil and a splash of whiskey.  Each sheath is sewn with top-of-the-line heavy duty red waxed cord for durability.  All rivets and screws used are of high quality.  Sheath includes adjustable lumberjack paracord neck lanyard.

All carbon steel knives are susceptible to rust.  Our Whiskey Knives are no different.  It is recommended to oil your blade after each use in the field.  I (CR///EK) have always used mineral oil and it has worked just fine.  If any rust occurs on the blade while in storage, steel wool can be used to brush it off.

Our leather sheaths will benefit from a biannual treatment with leather conditioner.  Any variety will work well.  We offer a small tin of Saddle Soap and also Mutton Tallow for sale and each of these products work well when treating and protecting leather.

Your knife has an asymmetrical beveled edge (think Samurai sword).  You won't notice it with the naked eye but it is there.  You will achieve the sharpest edge by only sharpening the side of the blade which has my logo stamped.  I prefer to use a rod-style diamond or ceramic sharpener for this task but many varieties of bench stones will work as well.

Like everything I offer for sale, I will stand by my Whiskey Knives for as long as I'm alive.  If your knife ever fails you for any reason or if you just decide you don't like it, simply email us at creek@creekstewart.com and we will either send you a replacement or refund your money.
