Drew Sharp – Keokuk Chert & Eastern Red Cedar Stone Knife

$145.00

Handmade by Drew Sharp

This handcrafted stone knife features a razor-sharp Keokuk chert blade set into a beautifully fitted eastern red cedar handle. Built sturdy and balanced in the hand, this blade is ready for practical woods tasks including skinning game, light carving, cutting branches, and foraging work.

Keokuk chert is prized for its fine grain and exceptional flaking quality, allowing it to be shaped into a precise and functional cutting edge. Each blade carries the subtle character of the stone itself—no two are exactly alike. Paired with the warm tones and natural durability of eastern red cedar, this knife blends ancient technology with timeless utility.

Like all true stone blades, this knife is designed for slicing and controlled cutting tasks. It should not be used for chopping, batoning, or prying, as lateral stress can cause breakage. Used properly, however, it performs with impressive sharpness and efficiency.

This piece is part of a limited series of handmade blades—each one individually knapped and fitted by hand.

Blade Length: 4.5” Long

Overall Length: 9 3/8” Long

Maker Highlight – Drew Sharp

Drew Sharp is one of North America’s most talented flint knappers and a featured instructor at WILD GOD Survival Courses. Raised in Union, Mississippi, Drew developed an early passion for primitive survival skills and traditional craftsmanship. Inspired by the work of Ryan Gill of Hunt Primitive, he began studying the ancient art of flintknapping—transforming raw stone into functional tools using traditional methods.

Flintknapping is a meticulous process of striking and pressure-flaking stone to gradually shape knives, arrowheads, and spear points. What began as a simple fascination quickly became Drew’s lifelong pursuit of mastering this nearly lost skill. His work is known for its precision, strength, and respect for historical authenticity.

Each blade in this series represents hours of patient craftsmanship and a deep understanding of primitive toolmaking.
