Drew Sharp – 5" Keokuk Flint Blade

Drew Sharp – 5" Keokuk Flint Blade
This handcrafted flint knife features a bold 5-inch Keokuk blade paired with a substantial eastern red cedar handle sealed in a durable Tru-Oil gunstock finish. At 12 inches overall, this is a full-size primitive working blade built for serious use in the woods.
The larger handle provides a firm, comfortable grip that fills the hand, offering improved control during extended tasks. The sealed cedar not only enhances the natural grain and warmth of the wood, but also adds moisture resistance and long-term durability.
The 5-inch Keokuk flint blade delivers impressive cutting performance. Its length and profile allow for processing heavier pieces of wood such as limbs for shelter building or splitting down firewood into manageable pieces. Skinning game is no problem for this beast. The edge is exceptionally sharp and capable of fine slicing work while maintaining the rugged character expected from a true stone blade.
As with all flint knives, this tool is designed for controlled cutting and slicing tasks. It should not be used for prying, batoning, or lateral stress applications, as stone can fracture under improper use.
This knife is part of a limited series of handmade blades, each individually knapped and fitted by hand.

Maker Highlight – Drew Sharp
Drew Sharp is one of North America’s most talented flint knappers and a featured instructor at WILD GOD Survival Courses. Raised in Union, Mississippi, Drew developed an early passion for primitive survival skills and traditional craftsmanship. Inspired by the work of Ryan Gill of Hunt Primitive, he began studying the ancient art of flintknapping—transforming raw stone into functional tools using time-tested methods.
Flintknapping is a precise process of striking and pressure-flaking stone to gradually reveal knives, arrowheads, and spear points hidden within the rock. Drew’s work reflects years of dedication to mastering this nearly lost craft. Each blade he produces carries the strength, character, and authenticity of true primitive toolmaking.
